BLUE VALLEY USD 229 | STADIUM IMPROVEMENTS
Location: Blue Valley USd 229
cost: $913,400
Improvements to the Blue Valley District Athletic Stadium located at Blue Valley High School included the replacement of the visitor side bleachers with a new 1,800 seat elevated grandstand. Additional stadium improvements included a second ticket booth and a newly designed main entry gate.
The Blue Valley West High School tennis courts were expanded through the addition of two new courts, the relocation of a practice wall, and related site work, to properly drain storm water away from the site.
At Indian Valley and Morse Elementary Schools iDS provided contract documents for new casework in 18 classrooms. This fast-paced project included demolition and relocation of wall pans, field verification of electrical units, and coordination to complete the installation prior to the first day of school.
iDS continued to provide construction documents for new casework in four additional elementary schools in the district. Efficiencies and improvements were incorporated into the project as well, which provided for a better project for the owner. In a concurrent project, science room casework in the Leawood Middle School was removed and replaced.
Another project at Stilwell Elementary School included improvements to the art room and to the exterior electrical overhead lines. iDS worked within the budget of the District to make improvements to the art room. A new kiln room was added within the classroom, casework was updated, and new indirect light fixtures provided much improved lighting.
At the exterior of the building, an overhead electrical line caused a low-clearance issue at the school’s loading dock. To alleviate the problem, iDS coordinated with Kansas City Power and Light and their electrical engineering sub-consultant to bury the hazardous line and added a pad-mounted transformer.
