JACKSON MIDDLE SCHOOL | ADDITIONS & RENOVATIONS
Location: JACKSON R-II School District
Size: Renovation: 25,000 sf
COST: $5,000,000
Jackson Middle School underwent multiple additions and renovations in phases to minimize disruption to the school schedule. The project included nine full-size classrooms, one SPED classroom with support spaces, a small classroom, a literature library, a new gymnasium, and restrooms. The choir and music rooms were updated for flexible use. Despite a tight timeline and budget, the school remained operational.
The new additions matched the existing masonry to seamlessly blend old and new spaces. The major classroom addition utilized an underused interior courtyard, reducing site and construction costs. Parking and drive areas were reconfigured to address site issues, including a new bus loop to separate bus and vehicle traffic. The entrance was modified to improve safety and accommodate more cars. These changes allowed for better traffic flow and increased safety, especially for the new gymnasium used outside school hours.
