PIPER USD 203 | LONG RANGE FACILITY PLAN
Location: PIPER USD 203
Cost: LISTED WITH EACH PROJECT
With enrollment steadily increasing over the past two decades, Piper USD 203 is the second-fastest growing school district in the state. As a result, the district is operating over instructional capacity. To gain a full understanding of district needs and enhance learning environments for students, USD 203 sought a full facility assessment and master plan for the district.
Following meetings with district staff and stakeholders, as well as a visual inspection of each site completed by the iDS planning team who is knowledgeable in building construction and operations, the planning team provided report cards for all district facilities. The report cards rate each facility on safety and security, future-ready learning spaces, structural and mechanical, electrical systems, exterior, HVAC, plumbing systems, roof, and structure. Also taken into account is the current enrollment, target functional capacity utilization (optimal learning environment for students and staff), current utilization compared to target, and max capacity utilization, and a list of building specific concerns. The school as a whole is then given a grade.
The facility assessment provided the district with data on the physical condition, utilization, and suitability of each facility so that iDS could then help the district make informed decisions on how to move forward with addressing each facility to fit the future ready curriculum. In 2022, the district passed a $64M bond to address deferred maintenance, traffic flow, current enrollment numbers and planning for future growth.
iDS is currently working with the district on renovations to Piper ECC, Piper Creek, Piper Prairie, and Piper Middle School, as well as designing the new Piper High School.
