The City of Ste. Genevieve sought to improve it’s facilities for residents as well as those traveling through the county who also use the city’s resources. After completing a feasibility study, the city opted to improve recreation in Ste. Genevieve.
The 46,000-square-foot multipurpose building is a pre-engineered building with a combination of vertical metal panels, insulated CMU walls (with the appearance of brick), and architectural metal panels at the main entry. The gymnasium and other sports that are housed in the facility are on located on the two story portion of the project while the rented meeting rooms, administrative, and other support spaces are located in a single story portion of the project.
This design-build project includes the following: a two story concourse that will act as a visual and physical spine connecting the public and private functions of the facility. This also organizes the building for an easy and straight forward communication of the spaces, a two court basketball gym with up to four volley ball courts, telescoping bleachers for viewing in the gym, two racquetball courts, two meeting rooms that can be combined into one larger meeting space, with an adjoining kitchen area, administration areas for two separate staff groups, a large board room, a public restroom with higher finishes for the main occupants, and a hardier open to the public restroom to accommodate exterior patrons of their campus, two batting cages, concession stand, tenant space with its own restrooms, kitchen and office space and an exterior storage room. Construction concluded in August of 2018.
